Custom Databases Settings Tab

The SL Custom Databases Settings Tab

The ability to add and edit existing custom database tables on your WordPress system is provided on the eLM Toolkit settings pages under the SL Custom Databases options tab.

Here you have the ability create any number of custom database tables:

There are two text boxes to complete in order give the table a name (ID) and also how many data columns the table should contain (think of these like the columns found in a spreadsheet, e.g. A, B, C, D).

Once you have clicked the Create Table button, your custom table will be ready for use and can be edited by selecting it on the same settings screen from the dropdown list:

Initially your table will contain no data until your Storyline activity has stored data values into it. Once this has happened at least once to create a new data row in your table, the settings screen can be used to show the contents of the table like above.

From this setting screen you have the option to delete a data row if you wish to, or delete the entire table by clicking on the red Delete Table link.

On the next page we will see how we can transmit data into one of our custom database tables at any point using an Execute JavaScript trigger in our Storyline activity.

If you need further information on best practice for embedding Storyline content onto a web page, use this Articulate Storyline help guide.
