At Discover eLearning we are proud to be the UK’s leading experts in WordPress LMS development. Using LearnDash LMS we have created many different online learning management systems for training providers and other business across the country, as well as for companies overseas!

We strongly believe that LearnDash offers the best value proposition for organisations looking to implement and deliver online training or sell online learning courses through their own bespoke and tailored platforms. The development of LearnDash continues to deliver new features every few weeks, but one of the features that we have been requested a number of times by our customers is a way to ensure that their learning content is being properly engaged with by the learner.

At present, LearnDash puts this responsibility fully in the learners hands, with the learner themselves required to mark each learning topic as complete in order to progress. This concerns many tutors who know that this process does not properly demonstrate knowledge acquisition, and that learners may skip areas in order to rush straight into an end of module/week quiz or assignment, potentially missing out on vital information or learning objectives embedded into the multimedia learning content.

This is where our new add-on plugin comes in.

The functionality of the plugin itself is very simple. LearnDash tutors can remove the manual Mark Complete button from any topic page, and dictate exactly when the Mark Complete action on those topic pages needs to be triggered within a Storyline or Captivate object. This creates a number of opportunities for course builders! Not only can tutors now ensure that learners do not simply ‘skip’ through content, but they can also ensure that learning has been satisfactorily demonstrated before giving the option for learners to progress.

Use cases for the plugin could include:

  • A learner must watch a piece of video in full before being able to move onto the next topic to answer questions on what they watched.
  • A learner must interactive with a game and submit a score onto a leader board before moving onto the next game
  • A learner must view a presentation developed in either Storyline or Captivate without being able to move to the next presentation before they have reached the last slide.
  • A learner must achieve a pass mark on an interactive game-based quiz built using Storyline in order to mark the topic as complete.

Our plugin is FREE and is available to download from our website here:

We are hoping to get as many LearnDash users as possible to test the plugin, if all goes well hope to launch it onto the WordPress Plugin Repository in the next few weeksn making it even more visible to a wide audience. This will also help to automate potential updates in the future.

Thank you to those already trying the plugin and we hope it will come in handy to help you create engaging learning experiences that integrate the power of LearnDash with the infinite creative potential of both Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate.
