At Discover eLearning, we pride ourselves on delivering custom-made, purpose-built eLearning solutions – so we’re incredibly proud of our latest project. We’re thrilled to announce that the British Compressed Air Society is ready to launch their new online learning portal. Built from scratch by Discover eLearning, the platform holds more than 15 online and blended learning programmes, with more soon to be added. This is one of the biggest projects we’ve undertaken to date, so we can’t wait to see the impact of our bespoke learning platform.
Custom-made for cost reduction
Building an LMS of this magnitude was no mean feat. The British Compressed Air Society is the only UK technical trade association open to manufacturers, distributors, and users of compressors, vacuum pumps, and pneumatic tools – and the skill level required to build and operate this kind of machinery is substantial. Our LMS would have to do justice to the knowledge and skills their learners would gain. It would also have to remove the scalability and cost barriers BCAS experienced using their previous LMS solution, iSpring Market.
As with all our WordPress for education solutions, the LMS we built for the British Compressed Air Society is completely bespoke. Using LearnDash as the basis for their LMS, we developed a number of custom features to enhance their learning programmes. This includes a custom exam grading system, and an external certificate upload function. We also built an automated membership validation system to simplify new registrations. These features combine to create a streamlined, automated workflow that reduces staff admin time and empowers BCAS learners.
Increasing scope and scalability
Our Managing Director and Lead Developer, Chris Hodgson, is over the moon to see the launch of this learning platform. “It’s been a pleasure to work with the BCAS leadership team over the last few months. It’s been great to turn the ideas for their next generation online learning platform into a reality. Moving from concept planning to development and delivery, I always felt confident that our bespoke approach using WordPress would deliver everything they needed. There was so much scope to implement more automation and self-service for learners.”

Planning for the future of BCAS training
With this state-of-the-art learning platform now in place, the British Compressed Air Society has big plans for the future. At Discover eLearning, we’re delighted to be involved. “We have built a solid foundation with this brand-new platform,” Chris says, “and we have no doubt the next stage of the BCAS digital journey can be realised as well, which is very exciting.”
We’re working to enhance BCAS’s skills accreditation system, building an integration between their new LMS and another brand new eLearning solution. This online learning portal is sure to open up a world of opportunity for learners in this sector.
